A Heartbreaking Incident I have personally witnessed a tragic and disturbing incident where a doctor disregarded the life of an aborted baby. The baby was placed on the counter, still moving, and the doctor instructed the nurse to discard it into the trashcan once it stopped moving. Such heartlessness highlights the urgent need for compassion and respect for all human life. Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters Conflict of Interest Policy ARTICLE I: PURPOSE The purpose of this Conflict of Interest Policy is to protect the interests of Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters (hereinafter referred to as the "Organization") when it is contemplating entering into a transaction or arrangement that might benefit the private interests of a board member, officer, or key employee. This policy is intended to ensure that all decisions made on behalf of the Organization are in its best interest and comply with applicable legal and ethical standards. ARTICLE II: DEFINITIONS Conflict of Interest A conflict of interest arises when a person in a position of authority over the Organization (e.g., a board member, officer, or key employee) has a financial, personal, or professional interest that could interfere with their duty to act in the best interests of the Organization. Examples include, but are not limited to: A financial interest in a business or entity that does business with the Organization. A personal or familial relationship with an individual or entity that benefits from the Organization’s decisions. Receipt of gifts, favors, or other benefits from individuals or entities that do business with the Organization. Interested Person Any board member, officer, or key employee of the Organization who has a direct or indirect financial interest, as defined below, is considered an "interested person." Financial Interest A person has a financial interest if they, or a member of their immediate family, have: An ownership or investment interest in any entity that does business with the Organization. A compensation arrangement with the Organization or with any entity or individual with which the Organization has a transaction or arrangement. A potential ownership, investment interest, or compensation arrangement with any entity or individual with which the Organization is negotiating a transaction or arrangement. ARTICLE III: DUTY TO DISCLOSE Disclosure Requirements Interested persons must disclose any actual, perceived, or potential conflicts of interest to the Board of Directors at the earliest possible time. Disclosure must include the nature of the financial or personal interest and any relevant facts. Annual Disclosure All board members, officers, and key employees are required to complete an Annual Disclosure Form (see Appendix) and update it promptly if any changes occur during the year. ARTICLE IV: PROCEDURES Determining Whether a Conflict of Interest Exists After disclosure of a potential conflict of interest, the interested person shall leave the meeting while the Board discusses and votes on whether a conflict of interest exists. The Board shall determine by majority vote whether the disclosed interest presents a conflict. Addressing the Conflict of Interest If the Board determines that a conflict of interest exists, it shall take appropriate action, which may include: Prohibiting the interested person from participating in discussions or decisions related to the matter. Seeking alternative arrangements or transactions that do not involve the interested person. Approving the transaction or arrangement only if: It is in the best interest of the Organization. It is fair and reasonable. It complies with applicable laws and regulations. Recusal The interested person shall not participate in any discussions, deliberations, or votes related to the matter giving rise to the conflict of interest. Documentation The minutes of the meeting shall document: The nature of the conflict of interest. The Board’s decision regarding the conflict. Any actions taken to address the conflict. The names of those present during discussions and votes. ARTICLE V: VIOLATIONS OF THE POLICY Failure to Disclose If the Board has reasonable cause to believe that an individual has failed to disclose a conflict of interest, it shall inform the individual and provide an opportunity for them to explain the alleged failure to disclose. Corrective Action If, after hearing the response and conducting further investigation, the Board determines that the individual intentionally failed to disclose a conflict of interest, it may take appropriate corrective action, including removal from their position. ARTICLE VI: COMPENSATION Compensation Decisions A voting member of the Board of Directors who receives compensation, directly or indirectly, from the Organization for services is precluded from voting on matters pertaining to their compensation. Committee Membership No voting member of any committee whose jurisdiction includes compensation matters and who receives compensation from the Organization may participate in discussions or votes on their own compensation. ARTICLE VII: PERIODIC REVIEWS To ensure the Organization operates in a manner consistent with its tax-exempt purpose and does not engage in activities that could jeopardize its tax-exempt status, the Board shall conduct periodic reviews. These reviews shall include: Whether compensation arrangements and benefits are reasonable and consistent with market standards. Whether partnerships, joint ventures, and arrangements with other organizations conform to the Organization’s mission and policies. ARTICLE VIII: USE OF OUTSIDE EXPERTS When conducting reviews or addressing conflicts of interest, the Organization may, but is not required to, use outside experts. The use of outside experts does not relieve the Board of its responsibility to ensure that all decisions are made in the best interest of the Organization. Jehovah Saints Statement of Faith for Jehovah Saints Effective Date: 12/22/2024 At Jehovah Saints, we are a Christ-centered, Bible-based organization committed to sharing the Gospel, serving others, and living out the teachings of Jesus Christ. Our Statement of Faith outlines the core beliefs that guide our ministry, outreach, and community engagement. As followers of Christ, we affirm the following truths: 1. The Bible We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the ultimate source of truth and guidance for faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 119:105) 2. The SEP Trinity Jehovah, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The term "SEP" signifies "separated," yet all three—Jehovah, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit—work together as One. This unity mirrors the sacred bond of marriage, as described in Genesis 2:24: "For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh." Though two individuals do not become one person, they work together as one—just as the SEP Trinity does. 3. God the Father We believe in God the Father, the Creator of heaven and earth, who is sovereign, holy, and loving. He desires a personal relationship with all His children and is the source of all life and goodness. (Genesis 1:1, Isaiah 64:8, John 3:16) 4. Jesus Christ We believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and taught with divine authority. He died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. He ascended to heaven, where He intercedes for us, and He will return in glory to establish His kingdom. (John 1:1-14, Philippians 2:5-11, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). 5. The Holy Spirit We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is the presence of God in the world today. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, regenerates the believer, and empowers us to live holy and faithful lives. The Spirit provides spiritual gifts for the building up of the church. (John 14:26, Acts 1:8, Galatians 5:22-23) 6. Salvation Jesus said, “Unless you repent, you will perish.” Luke 13:5 We believe that salvation is a gift of God, a gift you accept after you repent. It is not earned by good works but is given freely to those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus as their Savior and Lord. Through His death and resurrection, we are reconciled to God, forgiven of our sins, and granted eternal life. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-10, John 3:16) 7. The Church We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, composed of all believers who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ. The Church exists to glorify God, share the Gospel, disciple believers, and serve others in love. We are called to unity, fellowship, and mutual encouragement as we live out our faith together. Purpose of Water Baptism Water baptism serves as a public declaration of faith and obedience to Christ. It symbolizes the believer's identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. 2. Building Faith While water baptism is an important step in the believer's journey, it is primarily a reflection of the faith that already exists in the heart. It helps to strengthen and affirm one's faith within the community of believers. 3. Not a Requirement for Salvation The Bible clearly teaches that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, not through the act of baptism itself. Relevant Scriptures John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Ephesians 2:8-9: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." Acts 16:31: "They replied, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.'" Romans 10:9: "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Water baptism is a significant act of obedience that follows an individual's faith in Christ, but it is not a prerequisite for salvation. The essence of eternal life lies in believing in Jesus and accepting Him as Lord and Savior. 9. The Sanctity of Life We believe that all human life is sacred and created in the image of God, from conception to natural death. We are called to protect and honor the dignity of every person. (Genesis 1:27, Psalm 139:13-16) 10. Marriage and Family We believe that marriage is a sacred covenant instituted by God, uniting one man and woman, or women in a lifelong commitment.
