Serving with a Heart Devoted to God

Pastor Victor Otieno Odhiambo, the leader of Bethel Fellowship Centre and president of Jehovah Saints International in Kenya, delivered a powerful message in his Sunday service.
His teaching was centered on Colossians 3:23-25 (NKJV):
"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality."
This scripture is a clear reminder that our work, whether in ministry, daily responsibilities, or personal efforts, should always be done with sincerity and devotion to God rather than seeking approval from people. When we serve with a heart committed to the Lord, we align ourselves with His will and receive eternal rewards that far exceed earthly recognition.
Pastor Victor emphasized that true service comes from a heart willing to glorify God in all things—whether in small acts of kindness, diligent work, or overcoming challenges. When our focus shifts from seeking human validation to honoring God, our labor is not in vain. Jesus Himself demonstrated this principle throughout His ministry, serving others with love and humility.
The Bible consistently reinforces this truth:
Matthew 6:33 – "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." When our hearts are set on serving God, He ensures that our needs are met.
1 Corinthians 15:58 – "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." Our efforts in the Lord’s service carry eternal significance.
Pastor Victor encouraged believers to reflect on their motivations. Are we serving for recognition, or are we serving with an undivided heart toward God? The passage in Colossians 3:23-25 assures us that God is just—He sees all that we do, and He will reward faithful service while bringing justice upon wrongdoing.
Ultimately, when we commit every action to Christ, we step into His purpose and experience the joy and fulfillment that comes from working for His glory. Let our service be a reflection of the love and devotion that Christ has shown us!
