Biblical Insight: The Bible states that while the flesh (brain) is weak, the soul is strong, and the Holy Ghost is stronger. God is aware of your thoughts in both the heart and mind, which implies that He knows what you are "thinking" constantly. Psalms 44:21, Psalm 94:11 The Role of the Soul: Doctors often refer to the part of the soul as the subconscious mind, which holds more information than the conscious mind. Traumatic events, for example, are stored in the subconscious (soul) and may not always be fully accessible to the conscious brain. Death and the Soul: Doctors declare a person clinically dead when all electrical activity has left the body. This is because the soul is no longer attached to the "Sinus Node" area of the heart, signifying the departure of the soul. So life begins with the heartbeat, as the sinus node sends out electrical impluses. Conclusion: From this understanding, we can conclude that once a baby's heart starts beating, the baby has a soul and is alive. This reinforces the sanctity of life from its earliest stages. A Heartbreaking Incident I have personally witnessed a tragic and disturbing incident where a doctor disregarded the life of an aborted baby. The baby was placed on the counter, still moving, and the doctor instructed the nurse to discard it into the trashcan once it stopped moving. Such heartlessness highlights the urgent need for compassion and respect for all human life. Jehovah Saints Statement of Faith for Jehovah Saints Effective Date: 12/22/2024 At Jehovah Saints, we are a Christ-centered, Bible-based organization committed to sharing the Gospel, serving others, and living out the teachings of Jesus Christ. Our Statement of Faith outlines the core beliefs that guide our ministry, outreach, and community engagement. As followers of Christ, we affirm the following truths: 1. The Bible We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the ultimate source of truth and guidance for faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 119:105) 2. The SEP Trinity Jehovah, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The term "SEP" signifies "separated," yet all three—Jehovah, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit—work together as One. This unity mirrors the sacred bond of marriage, as described in Genesis 2:24: "For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh." Though two individuals do not become one person, they work together as one—just as the SEP Trinity does. 3. God the Father We believe in God the Father, the Creator of heaven and earth, who is sovereign, holy, and loving. He desires a personal relationship with all His children and is the source of all life and goodness. (Genesis 1:1, Isaiah 64:8, John 3:16) 4. Jesus Christ We believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and taught with divine authority. He died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. The Holy Spirit We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is the presence of God in the world today. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, regenerates the believer, and empowers us to live holy and faithful lives. Salvation Jesus said, “Unless you repent, you will perish.” Luke 13:5 We believe that salvation is a gift of God, a gift you accept after you repent. It is not earned by good works but is given freely to those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus as their Savior and Lord. The Church We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, composed of all believers who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ. Purpose of Water Baptism Water baptism serves as a public declaration of faith and obedience to Christ. It symbolizes the believer's identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. 2. Building Faith While water baptism is an important step in the believer's journey, it is primarily a reflection of the faith that already exists in the heart. It helps to strengthen and affirm one's faith within the community of believers. 3. Not a Requirement for Salvation The Bible clearly teaches that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, not through the act of baptism itself. Relevant Scriptures John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Ephesians 2:8-9: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters Conflict of Interest Policy ARTICLE I: PURPOSE The purpose of this Conflict of Interest Policy is to protect the interests of Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters (hereinafter referred to as the "Organization") when it is contemplating entering into a transaction or arrangement that might benefit the private interests of a board member, officer, or key employee. This policy is intended to ensure that all decisions made on behalf of the Organization are in its best interest and comply with applicable legal and ethical standards. ARTICLE II: DEFINITIONS Conflict of Interest A conflict of interest arises when a person in a position of authority over the Organization (e.g., a board member, officer, or key employee) has a financial, personal, or professional interest that could interfere with their duty to act in the best interests of the Organization. Examples include, but are not limited to: A financial interest in a business or entity that does business with the Organization. A personal or familial relationship with an individual or entity that benefits from the Organization’s decisions. Receipt of gifts, favors, or other benefits from individuals or entities that do business with the Organization. Interested Person Any board member, officer, or key employee of the Organization who has a direct or indirect financial interest, as defined below, is considered an "interested person." Financial Interest A person has a financial interest if they, or a member of their immediate family, have: An ownership or investment interest in any entity that does business with the Organization. A compensation arrangement with the Organization or with any entity or individual with which the Organization has a transaction or arrangement. A potential ownership, investment interest, or compensation arrangement with any entity or individual with which the Organization is negotiating a transaction or arrangement. ARTICLE III: DUTY TO DISCLOSE Disclosure Requirements Interested persons must disclose any actual, perceived, or potential conflicts of interest to the Board of Directors at the earliest possible time. Disclosure must include the nature of the financial or personal interest and any relevant facts. Annual Disclosure All board members, officers, and key employees are required to complete an Annual Disclosure Form (see Appendix) and update it promptly if any changes occur during the year. ARTICLE IV: PROCEDURES Determining Whether a Conflict of Interest Exists After disclosure of a potential conflict of interest, the interested person shall leave the meeting while the Board discusses and votes on whether a conflict of interest exists. The Board shall determine by majority vote whether the disclosed interest presents a conflict. Addressing the Conflict of Interest If the Board determines that a conflict of interest exists, it shall take appropriate action, which may include: Prohibiting the interested person from participating in discussions or decisions related to the matter. Seeking alternative arrangements or transactions that do not involve the interested person. Approving the transaction or arrangement only if: It is in the best interest of the Organization. It is fair and reasonable. It complies with applicable laws and regulations. Recusal The interested person shall not participate in any discussions, deliberations, or votes related to the matter giving rise to the conflict of interest. Documentation The minutes of the meeting shall document: The nature of the conflict of interest. The Board’s decision regarding the conflict. Any actions taken to address the conflict. The names of those present during discussions and votes. ARTICLE V: VIOLATIONS OF THE POLICY Failure to Disclose If the Board has reasonable cause to believe that an individual has failed to disclose a conflict of interest, it shall inform the individual and provide an opportunity for them to explain the alleged failure to disclose. Corrective Action If, after hearing the response and conducting further investigation, the Board determines that the individual intentionally failed to disclose a conflict of interest, it may take appropriate corrective action, including removal from their position. ARTICLE VI: COMPENSATION Compensation Decisions A voting member of the Board of Directors who receives compensation, directly or indirectly, from the Organization for services is precluded from voting on matters pertaining to their compensation. Committee Membership No voting member of any committee whose jurisdiction includes compensation matters and who receives compensation from the Organization may participate in discussions or votes on their own compensation. ARTICLE VII: PERIODIC REVIEWS To ensure the Organization operates in a manner consistent with its tax-exempt purpose and does not engage in activities that could jeopardize its tax-exempt status, the Board shall conduct periodic reviews. Weapons Policy For Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters Purpose Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters are dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for all guests, staff, volunteers, and visitors. This Weapons Policy is established to protect everyone on the premises by strictly prohibiting the possession or use of weapons within shelter property. Policy Statement The possession, carrying, use, or storage of weapons of any kind is strictly prohibited on the premises of Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters. This policy applies to all individuals, regardless of whether they have a permit or license for the weapon. Scope This policy applies to all guests, staff, volunteers, visitors, and contractors at Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters. Definition of Weapons Weapons include, but are not limited to: Firearms (handguns, rifles, shotguns, etc.). Knives with blades longer than 3 inches (excluding kitchen utensils used for shelter purposes). Explosives, fireworks, or incendiary devices. Tasers, stun guns, or other electronic disabling devices. Brass knuckles, clubs, bats, or other objects intended to be used as weapons. Any item that could be used to intimidate, harm, or threaten others. Policy Enforcement 1. Prohibited Possession Individuals found in possession of a weapon will be asked to immediately remove the weapon from the premises. If a weapon is discovered during entry or while on the premises, staff may confiscate the weapon temporarily and notify law enforcement if necessary. 2. Screening Guests may be subject to bag checks or screenings upon entry to ensure compliance with this policy. Any weapons found during screening will be confiscated and handled according to shelter procedures. 3. Violent or Threatening Behavior Any individual who uses or threatens to use a weapon will be reported to law enforcement immediately. The individual will be removed from the premises and may face permanent exclusion from the shelter. Exceptions The following exceptions to this policy may apply: Law Enforcement Personnel: Police officers or other law enforcement personnel who are on duty and carrying weapons as part of their official responsibilities are exempt from this policy. Religious or Cultural Items: Items carried for religious or cultural purposes that could be classified as weapons (e.g., ceremonial knives) must be disclosed to shelter management upon entry. Shelter management will determine how these items can be safely stored or handled. Violation of Policy 1. Guests Guests found in violation of this policy may face the following consequences: First Offense: A verbal warning and immediate removal of the weapon. Second Offense: Temporary suspension from shelter services. Third Offense: Permanent discharge from the shelter, with referrals to alternative services provided. 2. Staff and Volunteers Staff or volunteers found in violation of this policy may face disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or volunteer status. 3. Visitors Visitors violating this policy will be asked to leave the premises immediately and may be barred from returning. Storage of Prohibited Items In certain cases, shelter management may temporarily store prohibited items (e.g., knives or tools) for guests until they leave the premises. Items will be securely stored and returned only when the individual exits the shelter. Reporting and Documentation All incidents involving weapons must be reported to shelter management immediately.
